I (Data Expert) was managing based on intuition

Autora: Lorena Sánchez Osorio

One of the most beautiful yet challenging aspects of my entrepreneurial journey has been humility.

I confess I've had to wrestle with the ego and pride that came with knowledge. Last year was a period of unexpected growth for us. We transitioned from a microenterprise to a small business and successfully navigated the dreaded valley of death. However, towards the end of the year, I made a wise decision: I recognized the need for assistance to continue growing. Thus, I sought advice from various advisors.

I sought guidance for my mental health, physical well-being, personal and business image, communication style, purposeful management, and profoundly human resource management. I also consulted legal advisors and recently began exploring sales processes. Despite having advisors for almost every aspect, I must admit, I've never felt more overwhelmed. Unlearning and relearning have been essential for my growth. In meetings with advisors, I found myself questioning, "Why should I trust them over my intuition?" That's when I had my 'wow' moment. Here I was, questioning from intuition when my entire life revolved around data! I needed my data to comprehend their advice. It's a classic case of "the cobbler's children have no shoes."

As I began collecting and utilizing data to make decisions, integrating them into my management style and personal life, I felt more confident. Implementing the same tools I use with my clients at Wadua bolstered my sense of security. Admittedly, it wasn't all smooth sailing. Transitioning to a data-driven decision-making approach led to the departure of some team members who couldn't adapt. However, I now understand it was a necessary step.

Experiencing firsthand what my clients go through, I realized Wadua's purpose is to promote well-being. Making decisions based on data enhances our quality of life and fosters a sense of well-being.

Today, I'm grateful for all my advisors and commend my team for helping achieve a sense of well-being for both me and the company. I stand behind the hashtag: #TheGoodLifeWithData.
